Boricua Pa' La Corte Suprema!!!

I just got back from Puerto Rico and the first news I read is that Judge Sonia Maria Sotomayor was nominated by Presidente Obama to become the next Justice!

This news has certainly helped cure my Post Puerto Rico blues!

Also, I wanted to include these nice words from Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat, the first Dominican elected to the New York Legislature:

On Sunday June 14th in honor of Puerto Rican Day in New York The Rice & Beans Soundsystem will be spinning at Habana Outpost in Brooklyn!

Come ready to dance and have a good time all in the name of love for Puerto Rico and all the Boricuas! This will be a return to the essence of what the Parade should be all about! No corporate sponsors, no cafreria, no using the flag as an accessory...just real authentic love for Borinken-its history, its culture and its people!


We will be spinning Bomba, Plena, Boogaloo, Salsa Classica, Latin Jazz, Latin Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae, House, Freestyle, and everything else that captures the diverse sabor of PR!


There will be plenty of surprises..so be ready!

In addition at 8:00 PM Habana Outpost will be showing the classic "Salsa"!

ESPERANZA SPALDING IN DC TONIGHT!!!

For all my Washingtonians..Esperanza Spalding will be performing tonight Thursday, May 14th at the Kennedy Perfoming Art Center in DC as part of the 14th Annual Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival...this venue is amazingly beautiful as well. Saw Jay-Z there last year..he was even impressed.

If you havent yet checked out her music...do so. She is a bassist, vocalist, and composer with an amazing sound. Truly an experience which blends Caribbean, Brazilian, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Soul.
